The Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) and Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ) recently announced the completion of a 1.12 MW solar electric system installation.

Last week, photovoltaic panel powerhouse, First Solar, Inc. announced a power purchase agreement to supply California's Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) with 300 MW of renewable power from Desert Sunlight, a 550-megawatt (MW)

On President Obama’s recent trip to China, he met with China's President Hu Jintao to discuss a wide variety of energy and environment related topics. Together the two presidents announced a far-reaching package of measures to strengthen cooperation between the United States and China on issues of clean and renewable energy.

The initiatives included:

 More power utilities increased the amount of energy they got from solar power in 2008, despite the economic downturn.  The top ten solar-using utilities increased their solar portfolio by an average of two megawatts, enough energy to supply over 300 homes a year.
