The London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) recently awarded a contract to ChargePoint Services (CPS) to install charging points for the Olympic Games.  Athletes, officials and VIPs will soon be transported from venue to venue in electric vehicles during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.   

A new breakthrough in the transportation fuel world could also have the added merit of reducing harmful flare gas emissions. 

A new 97.6-megawatt battery-storage wind power facility is now online in West Virginia. The installation represents the world's largest lithium-ion-based wind energy storage project and the biggest advanced battery clean energy project in the United States.

GE Energy, a division of General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE), has completed its $3.2 billion acquisition of a 90% stake in Converteam, the French electrical equipment and systems maker, after receiving the go-ahead from the US Department of Justice.

General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) said Monday that Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOGand two Japanese partners -- Sumitomo Corporation and Itochu Corporation -- will pay about $500 million for a majority equity stake in the world's largest wind farm, under construction near Arlington, Oregon. Google’s share will be about $100 million.
