A chill may be blowing through the green energy sector in the U.S., but near-term troubles notwithstanding, wind power remains a hot item in the United States with strong long-term prospects, according to a study by Emerging Energy Research (EER) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Detroit took a serious hit when the auto industry went belly-up earlier this year, but Michigan’s economy has discovered a surprising pick-me-up in the form of General Electric's decision on Friday to invest $100 million in a renewable energy research and production facility in Van Buren Township in western Wayne County.

Enhanced geothermal energy is cheaper and more reliable than virtually all other technologies according to a recent report by Credit Suisse on comparative energy costs.
