The numbers demonstrate the European Union's commitment to wind power:

 

- Around 60% of the world's wind power generating capacity is in Europe

- Europe's installed wind capacity is around 64,949 MW, equivalent to just over 4% of Europe's demand.

Hawaii has big plans to become a model for renewable energy in America. The Aloha State recently signed an agreement with the federal Department of Energy committing to 70% renewable energy by 2030 – the most ambitious of any state in the Union.

Government incentives and emerging technologies are starting to make the small wind turbine market look much bigger.

 

Like many markets, the renewable sector has been hit hard by collapsing access to credit and newly skittish investors.

 

The silver lining however has been an unprecedented outpouring of public money into the marketplace, much of it earmarked towards building a greener global economy.
