 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) administrator in the South and Southwest region (Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Arkansas), Al Armendariz, has resigned after Republicans took aim at comments he made two years ago regarding how the EPA would "crucify" corporations that broke environmental laws.

Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. (RES Americas) has completed the construction of a wind farm in Oklahoma.

Located in Dewey County, the Crossroads Wind Farm is comprised of 98 Siemens wind turbines that when combined can generate up to 227.5 MW of renewable energy. Crossroads, which took 12 months to construct, is RES Americas' first wind development in Oklahoma.

Fluor Corporation, the nation's largest publicly traded engineering and construction company, said this week that it has been selected by a subsidiary of electricity generator LS Power Group to build a 125-megawatt solar plant in Arizona. Fluor was also awarded a separate contract for ongoing operations and maintenance.

Seattle-based AltaRock Energy, Inc. and Davenport Newberry Holdings LLC of Stamford, Connecticut, geothermal energy project developers, this summer plan to test the energy potential of the Newberrry Volcano, located about 20 miles south of Bend, Oregon.

Enel Green Power S.p.A., the renewable energy division of Italy's largest utility, has announced that a consortium of investors led by JPMorgan Chase would invest some $340 million in two U.S. wind farms in return for a stake in the projects and voting rights.
