And let’s not forget the massive snowstorms in the winter of 2010 – 2011.
In its annual progress report, the International Energy Agency (IEA) unsurprisingly called for more urgency and action from nations across the globe in the development and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
TransCanada Corporation has brought two wind farms online in Quebec. The company has announced the completion of both the Montagne-Sèche project and also phase one of the Gros-Morne wind farm.
Entergy Corporation (NYSE: ETR), said Monday that six of its subsidiary operating utilities will join the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator (MISO), a regional transmission organization (RTO) that now supports the delivery of electricity of 13 U.S. states and the Province of Manitoba. Entergy said joining MISO could save customers more than $1 billion in power production costs for the 2013 to 2022 timeframe.
