Forging ahead towards President Obama's target to source 80 percent of the United States' electrical needs from clean energy, the Department of Energy (DOE) has finalized a US$96.8 million loan guarantee for a geothermal project in south east Oregon.
US Geothermal Inc. (AMEX:HTM) has announced a USD$30 million agreement with TAS Energy Inc., to build a 8.6 net megawatt geothermal power plant in Northern Nevada.
If geothermal power achieves its potential to become a significant contributor to the economy’s transition from fossil fuels to cleaner power, the best performers among these pure-play publicly traded companies will make their shareholders a lot of money: Ormat Technologies, Inc.
