Tasting Scotch whisky may not be the only activity related to the traditional Scottish beverage in the near future. A partnership comprised of major distillers of Speyside in Scotland had resulted in a joint venture called Helius CoRDE, which plans to use whisky by-products to produce energy.

Investment firm Future Capital Partners (FCP) intends to raise £236 million ($380.6 million USD) to build a new biofuel plant in the United Kingdom.
