BP's (NYSE: BP) share-price dropped almost 15% today (-$5.48) over speculation that the oil giant is running the risk of going bankrupt.

So far BP has tried Operation Top Hat, Operation Siphon, Operation Top Kill and all have failed.

Some quick calculations by writer Karl Burkhart over on the Mother Nature Network finds that for the cost of constructing and operating the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, that now sits at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, we could have constructed enough offshore wind power turbines to produce 33 billion kilowatts of electricty a year.
