car sales

The first half of 2010 has not been kind to fuel efficient vehicles in the United States.  According Ward Auto, sales of vehicles that get 30 miles-per-gallon (mpg) or better have dropped 10% compared to the same period last year.

In Japan, Toyota's third generation Prius has flown off the shelves since it was introduced in May.  Toyota Motor Corporation expected to sell around 10,000 Prius' in the first month; instead, it received 180,000 orders.

2009 has been an atrocious year for car sales, including hybrids, in America.  However, that may be changing, for hybrids at least.  In May, hybrid sales rose 18.2% from April's totals.
