Energy Independence and Security Act
One of America's largest consumers of fuel, the U.S. military is actively seeking to increase its biofuel resources.
This week the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released its 2011 Renewable Fuel Standards proposal [pdf] for minimum renewable fuel percentages in transportation fuels.
The Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007 (1) requires a gradual increase in the volume of various kinds of biofuels to be blended with U.S. motor fuels in the next several years. The gradual increase was designed to provide time for technology development and industry growth.
