Canada’s New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is taking part in a research project that will produce ethanol from beer and soda waste.  NBCC and Canadian company Milco Industries are working together to create a $500,000 modular pilot plant that will turn the waste drink products into ethanol.

Iowa, a leader in alternative energy production,  received $16 million for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for the state.  Iowa Governor Chet Culver, along with U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu, made the announcement during a Monday morning news conference in Des Moines.
