In a country that currently generates very little electricity from the wind, France's latest target of generating six gigawatts of offshore wind power by 2020 seems bold.
However, with President Nicolas Sarkozy's pledge of US$13.6 billion to offshore wind development, France appears to be backing its pledge with financial support.
