Biofuel developer Joule Biotechnologies raised $70 million in its third round of funding the company announced this week.

By now everyone has heard of renewable technologies like solar and wind power.  But, Mother Nature Network has compiled ten practical alternative energy sources that might be flying under your radar.

Interest in biofuels has grown enormously in the past few years.  And, with the escalating catastrophe oil leak caused by BP's offshore oil drilling, the development of alternative fuels are sure to garner even more attention.

Joule Biotechnologies, a new startup company in Cambridge, Mass., claims their new direct-to-fuel conversion process eliminates the need for excessive land and water consumption in biofuel production and greatly reduces harmful emissions. What they won't say is what their secret ingredient is.
