Ontario wind energy
Canada's wind industry has had a record year. According to the latest data from the Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA), 1,400 megawatts of wind capacity was installed in 2011, more than doubling 2010's output.
Ontario's Provincial Tory Party Leader Tim Hudak has said if elected, he would scrap the Liberal party’s renewable energy initiatives.
The Ontario government, frequently touted as one of the greenest provinces in Canada for its investment in renewable energy, has done an about face on its support of offshore wind power. This move has left many fearing that the government is risking its reputation as a renewable energy leader.
