A few weeks ago, I wrote to the President urging him to make North America more energy self-sufficient and to promote common-sense regulatory controls for all forms of energy in our hemisphere - while at the same time continuing to encourage both sustainable energy projects and responsible energy use.

In his address to the nation this week, President Obama reiterated his plan to pull the U.S. energy industry out from the shadows.

Speaking to members of the United Auto Workers Union on Tuesday, President Obama said he would buy a Chevy Volt plug-in electric vehicle when his reign as U.S. commander and chief is over.  According to Obama, this will be in five years.

Taking a stand on what has emerged as one of the hottest political issues in the United States, President Obama has announced his administration will not approve the Keystone XL Pipeline, which would transport oil from Alberta's tar sands to refineries in the Gulf of Mexico.
