New reports suggest that increased use of electric cars may in some areas of the US actually increase carbon emissions. Just when you thought we were on to something that might actually help!

The news just continues to get worse for Toyota (NYSE:TM), as the company's recall of faulty automobiles has now reached its prized Prius model.

Toyota will unveil a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version of its 2010 Prius at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The PHEV Prius will have the capability of running completely off electric power for day-to-day driving.  Analysts also believe the PHEV Prius will be the first Toyota vehicle to be fitted with a lithium-ion battery pack.

A beautiful woman slips into the passenger seat and buckles up. After a brief look into her eyes, you peel off and turn your attention to the road. After nimbly evading your pursuers, you make your way to an elegant hotel suite where the real fun begins.

In Japan, Toyota's third generation Prius has flown off the shelves since it was introduced in May.  Toyota Motor Corporation expected to sell around 10,000 Prius' in the first month; instead, it received 180,000 orders.

Toyota is wary to jump on the plug-in hybrid bandwagon.  The company cites price, recharge time, and battery durability as the key factors that need to be improved for plug-ins to be successful.
