Senate

After almost two years of stalled efforts, President Obama announced that he will be making climate change legislation one of his administration’s top priorities next year.

Last week, the US Senate passed a new jobs bill, the American Workers, State and Business Relief Act, that includes the reinstatement of the biodiesel blenders’ tax credit which had expired at the end of 2009.

Several CEO's of companies that are members of the RES Alliance for Jobs are scheduled to meet with top Senate leaders today to discuss strengthening the Renewable Electricity Standard (RES) in new energy and climate legislation that will be in play in the Senate this fall.&nb

The Waxman-Markey Bill will not be reviewed by the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee until September.  The original plan was for the Committee to vote on the bill before the end of August.

Today the American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES), also known as the Waxman-Markey Bill, passed another test when it was approved by the Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
