Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems has received an order for 150 MW of wind turbines from a client in the United States the company said Tuesday.

Madison, Wis.-based RMT, a subsidiary of Midwestern power company Alliant Energy Corp. (LNT), said it plans to design and construct ten new wind power projects—and eight utility-scale solar photovoltaic projects—across the U.S. this year.

T. Boone Pickens, once one of the brightest examples of the shift from conventional fossil fuel energy to renewable energy, has announced his Pickens Plan no longer involves wind energy.

The U.S. wind industry only installed 395 megawatts (MW) in the third quarter for 2010, experiencing its worst quarter since 2007.
