A group of 18 scientists attending a workshop for the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) National Renewable Energy Laboratory, or NREL, recently reported on parallels between their research on photosynthesis and photovoltaics that point toward a potentially exponential increase in the ability of plants to provide energy, biofuel, and the human fuel called food.  

Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed, who once famously held a cabinet meeting underwater to draw attention to climate change, is installing a solar photovoltaic (PV) system on his official residence this week.
