The clean technology industry involves so much more than just solar power plants, wind turbines, and electric cars. The often forgotten energy efficiency sector is a large player in the clean tech industry.
The credit crunch and recession has put a damper on renewable energy, but the less capital intensive energy efficiency sector continues to grow. This industry includes things such as green building materials, smart grid monitoring, software for green computing, and improvement of electrical transmission lines.
For example, software enterprise, Verdiem provides software for companies to manage the energy output of their computer networks. Verdiem's software can cut kilowatt usage by as much as 30%. In 2009, keep an eye out for the energy efficiency sector.
