Sealing up homes and offices saves energy and is mostly a good thing, except when the air inside is full of CO2 with no good place to go, which is where the eSense Fresh Air Indicator from CO2Meter.com enters the picture.
The eSense Fresh Air Indicator warns when indoor air is likely to contain high levels of dust, chemicals and micro-organisms. It can be used in offices, classrooms or anywhere air quality is important. An audible warning and flashing light indicates too much carbon dioxide, meaning that additional fresh air ventilation is needed.
Measuring indoor carbon dioxide levels is an accepted world-wide standard for measuring indoor air quality.
“Think of carbon dioxide as the ‘canary in the mineshaft’”, says Ray Hicks, President of CO2Meter.com. “As the number of people in an enclosed space increase, CO2 levels rise. When CO2 is too high, so are airborne levels of dust, mold, bacteria, viruses and volatile organic compounds from carpets, perfumes and other sources.”
Proper ventilation has also been shown to increase productivity and the ability to learn, according to several documented studies.
Originally developed at the request of environmental engineers, the FAI is designed to meet the LEED specifications for CO2 monitoring for indoor air quality. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of energy-efficient and healthy “green” buildings.
The eSense FAI can be plugged into the wall, or it can be connected to a demand-controlled ventilation system.
