Prop. 23 Could Slow Up or Stop California's Up and Coming Green Industry

According to author and journalist Thomas Friedman, California is sitting pretty to benefit from the growing clean energy boom.
Prop 23, however, could pull the seat right out from under the State. The new legislation would roll back the current climate change law (AB 32) signed in 2006 by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger seeking to reduce greenhouse gases to 1990 levels by 2020.
Speaking at Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson's Greenwise Initiative Meeting, both Friedman and Swchwarzenegger clearly took a stand against the proposed legislation.
Prop 23, which would halt AB 32 until the State's unemployment rate drops to 5.5 % over four quarters, is heavily lobbied by major oil companies.
With regards to the out-of-state oil companies Schwarzenegger said, "They are not interested in our environment. They are only interested in greed and lining their pockets."
