Potentia and Canadian Solar Sign Supply Agreement for Rooftop Solar Projects

Canadian Solar, Inc. has signed a 17-megawatt supply agreement with Potentia Solar, Inc. The solar panels will be used to develop more than 100 rooftop solar projects in Ontario.
Potentia, which leases rooftop space from industrial and commercial businesses in order to build and operate rooftop solar arrays, will receive the panels on a per project basis. All of the projects are expected to be complete by 2013.
The rooftop arrays are expected to generate enough clean energy to power 1,700 homes, while creating 260 jobs.
This partnership just adds to Canadian Solar's presence in Ontario's clean energy market, as Dr. Shawn Qu, the company's Chairman and CEO points out: "We are proud of our continuing leadership role in building Ontario's alternative energy presence. Through this new master supply agreement, together Canadian Solar and Potentia are bringing more clean power, jobs and investment to the province."
Canadian Solar has focused its business operations on emerging markets such as Japan, China, Canada, and India. In May, the company received a C$120 million construction loan from the Bank of China to develop projects it owns in Ontario.
