Vestas (VWDRY.PK), the world's largest wind producer of wind turbines, has announced it has received an order to deliver 99-megawatts of wind generating turbines to British Columbia, Canada.
Vestas will deliver and commission 55 V100-1.8 MW turbines for a wind project in B.C. Delivery is expected mid-2012. The order, which will be filled by Vestas' North American production facilities in Colorado, USA, is the second in as many days. Yesterday, the company announced it had won a 50.4 MW contract from Element Power to deliver 28 V100-1.8 MW for the first phase of the Macho Springs Wind Energy Project in Luna County, New Mexico, USA.
This order marks Vestas' sixth Canadian order this year and 15th in North America. In 2010 the company has secured contracts in North America that will collectively generate 1,883 MW of renewable energy.
“As Canada’s leading supplier of wind turbines, we are happy to continue to help provide more clean power to a province that strongly supports renewable energy,” said Martha Wyrsch, President of Vestas Americas.
