Vestas Wind Systems (CPH:VWS) has been awarded the contract to supply the turbines for Noble Environmental Power's 99-megawatt wind farm in the state of New Hampshire.
Noble Environmental's Granite Reliable Power Windpark is expected to come online in the second half of 2011. So, Vestas will deliver its 33 V90-3.0 MW wind turbines in the first half of 2011. Along with the delivery of the turbines, the order calls for a two-year service and maintenance agreement from Vestas.
When completed, the Granite Reliable Windpark will be New Hampshire's largest commercial wind farm. The wind farm will be a big addition to Noble Environmental's generation capacity. Currently, the company has 726 MW of wind power plants in operation in New York and Texas; and, it has 1,900 MW in development across the United States.
As Martha Wyrsch, President of Vestas Americas, said, "The Granite Reliable project demonstrates that wind power is becoming an important part of America's generating capacity."
